A GYPSY JAZZ & SWING GUITARIST

Andrea Vergani is an Italian gypsy jazz & swing guitarist based in London.

Always fascinated by music of every kind, he started with piano lessons around the age of 6, only to find his perfect love at first sight with his mother’s guitar left in his bedroom closet. From that moment began years of dedication and obsessive practice in his hometown Trieste, taking lessons at the local Scuola Di Musica 55 as well as with the local orchestra musician Lucio Zanella.

After completing a degree in Political Science and a steady job in a multinational Shipping Company, his career in logistics brought him to London in 2008.

It was here in the cultural melting pot of the London music scene he finally decided to dedicate himself fully to his musical craft, enrolling to study Jazz & Pop at Golsmith’s University.

From that year Andrea’s experience in music continued to grow, discovering a passion for the gypsy jazz genre and the great Django Reinhardt!

Over the years Andrea branched into teaching work for London’s music services, tutoring many young students, as well as adults beginners privately.

Around 2016 Andrea met mandolin player Vivian Li, joining forces to create ‘Swing Train 42’, a gypsy jazz trio based on the unusual combination of mandolin and guitar.

Now a regular presence on the gypsy jazz scene, Andrea has been declared “The busiest gypsy jazz player in town”, exclusively playing gypsy jazz with his trio and duos, appearing everywhere from club nights and functions, to playing at regular jam sessions. Andrea is also known for his online presence through social media, from his own andreaverganimusic channels to gypsy jazz hangouts, extending his network of connections to musicians outside the UK into Europe.
